Meteor

Making her way over countless stark mile

Through empty black sea with light in her smile

Spinning and soaring. Her eager endeavor—

To brighten the night for some lucky observer.

Neither Fourth of July, nor New Year’s best

Could even come close; she’s more than the rest.

No, nothing created by man can compare

With this grand firework, wrought with great care.

The calming stillness of the night

Pierced by a sudden flash of light.

For only an instant, yet eternally

This blazing pebble has chosen to be

A beacon which shines through reflecting hours

Showing how close God’s home is to ours.
